North, South, East, West!

Students will then have instructions to follow using their compass rose. The teacher will provide them with the directions that need to be followed and there will be about 6 different directions. Students will wait where they ended up for all students to find their final destination. There will be about 3 students in each group. The students in the same group will work together to create their own directions. The teacher will provide the maps. Students will choose the final destination and write how they reached that point. Students will draw on the map the steps taken in which direction. They will be able to color the map. The map created will be displayed in the classroom.
As an assessment, students will be given a worksheet provided by the teacher. This worksheet should be done independently. The worksheet includes a map as well as a compass rose. The students will use the compass rose and the diagram of the town to fill in the blanks and answer the question. Students should get 4 out of 6 correctly to show that they understand.
